Question : How can I find out what a credit card's credit limit is before I apply for it?
I am looking at several credit cards, but the most important factor to me is the credit limit. Is there any way to find out the limit before I'm actually approved for the credit card?

The credit limit is based on your credit historyand may be different for everyone. Once you areapproved, if you make timely payments and continueto use the card, the company will send you noticesof an automatic increase in your limit.

those that send you offers in the mail won't tellyou. It's part of how they rip off consumers. First, they will deduct their annual fee when theyestablish the account for you, before you've hadthe benefit of the card. Most of them start offwith a very low credit limit and you have tomaintain the account for a year with no latepayments, after which they may extend your line. Typical beginning limit is $250-$500.

Answer #12
The only time you will know what the credit limitis on a card is if you are pre-approved. when thishappens the company has pulled a "soft" creditcheck on you and is issueing a credit limit to youbased on how you manage your other debts. If youare pre-approved some companies will hold thisinformation until you have agreed to accept thecard before you can find out. If you aresubmitting aplications for a card then you willnot be able to find out till the process iscomplete and the card is actually issued.
