Question : Can I call the credit card company and ask for a higher limit?
I got a credit card about 6 months ago with a limit of just $800. It's a student credit card. Can I call the credit card company and ask for a higher credit limit? I've heard you can ask for a lower interest rate and sometimes they'll give it to you, but is the same true for a higher credit limit? Thanks in advance.

Yes you can do that, but they won't always grantyour request. But it never hurts to try anyways. However since you've only had it only a few monthsthey might deny it.

Answer #5
If you have been paying you bills on time for thelast six months...... call the 800 number n theback of your card and ask. The worst thing theycan do is turn you down. If you are still astudent and not employed, your chances are slim.

Answer #6
I would have thought that the credit card companywould only raise your limit after a period of timeand only then if you regularly paid your accountin full and on time.

as a general rule, banks are always happy to givea higher credit limit. However it does depend onthe specific bank that you've been issued thecard.Usually banks look at your income and sourcesof funding prior to increasing the credit limit, but they do not pay much attention to it. So mostprobably the bank will increase the credit limit,if not. tell them you found a better deal withsome other bank, they will then ask which bank;give them a bank's name in random and provide themwith a reasonable deal and i guaranty you thatthey will match it.(the deal)

Answer #10
Yes, you can request a credit line increase, but Iwould ask if they are going to pull your creditreport to process the request because moreinquiries you have it will lower your score... soif they say yes decide if you really need theincrease or not.
