Question : When do I have to compete the FAFSA federal aid application?
I'm a senior in high school and you can say I'm a little confused on what to do for college. I'm planning on applying for a school for the Fall 2008 semester and I was wondering when is the best time to complete a FAFSA application. Should I do it now since school application deadlines are next January and February?

I think you should start on your FAFSA in January2008. Make sure you have everything completedbefore you start college. If you don't haveeverything completed or if you turn in yourinformation late, you may have to pay your tuitionout of your pocket until you receive yourfinancial aid for that semester. Also check withthe college(s) you want to attend to determine anydue dates related to financial aid.

Answer #5
I think that it is best to begin the FAFSAapplication as soon as possible. The school thatyou choose to attend will have deadlines for allof this, but it is better to have it in early thento not have it in on time and have to wait untilthe next semester. BEEN THERE done that..

The FAFSA won't be available until after January1, 2008. It will ask for income information forboth you and your parent(s). While you canestimate your tax information and complete theFAFSA before filing taxes, you may later have toverify to the school that the information yousubmitted is indeed correct.Your school may alsohave an in-house application(s) that you have tocomplete, so make sure and see if this applies toyou, and if so when it is available (these areusually available in October/November).Mostschools have an "on-time" or "priority" deadlinesometime in the spring (March/April). Check withyour school to see when this is. Even though theFAFSA can be filled out as early as January 1,2008, you don't really have to have it completeduntil the school's deadline, so you havetime.Check with a financial aid officer at theschool(s) you will be applying to for moreinformation/guidance. Good luck!
