Question : What type of credit card can I apply for and get approved with current bad credit to start rebuilding?
Im currently disputing a lot of derrogatory info on my credit reports from all 3 agencies. I currently have no major credit cards and was informed that if I opened a credit card account and made the payments on time that would up my credit score.

Answer #3
Secured credit card would be your best bet. Thiswill report to all 3 bureaus as a credit card, andwill get you back into good habits of spendingmoney on plastic. An unsecured credit card in thehands of someone with bad credit trying torebuild, isn't always the best thing. A securedcredit card is issued by many major banks.I wouldrecommend the Bank Of America Secured VISA. Youcan start with as little as $300 on it, andcontinue to deposit money to the card. This willbuild your credit immensely. After 6 months ofresponsible use with this card, you score willlikely have improved, as well as your financialresponsibility, and you can then look into gettinga "starter" unsecured credit card.

If you're just looking to improve your credit, your best bet is to go with a secured credit card. This is kind of like a bank account that yourcredit limit is whatever amount of money you sendthem. There's usually a minimum though. Youbasically pay ahead of time, use that credit, andrepay it. Once you've done that for a good 3-6months, you may start to see good offers forunsecured credit cards rolling in.
