Question : Do late payments on a school loan hurt my chances of a home loan with a good interest rate?
I am 24 years old and I have paid my college loan late a few times and I am hoping to get a home loan with a descent interest rate, will that still be possible? And what effect do garnishments have on home loans? The garnishment is not home loan related.

As far as I know (and this is info from whatdoctors at the hospital I work at told me, andthey know because they'll all be paying off loanstill they die!) they don't have any bearing*unless* the loan goes into default. Good luck :)

all the information on your college loan isreported to the credit bureaus. later payments onany time of loan, including credit card paymentswill affect you credit score. if you have agarnishment it will also appear on your creditreport. it shows you are not a trustworthy personand it will be very difficult for you to get anyload at a reasonably good interest rate. get youract together and live within your means for a fewyears and make your payments on time and yourscore will get better. forget about buying ahome. sounds like you could not afford to anywaysince it normally requires some down payment.

it depends; the gov rarely reports anything toanyone causethey are slower than molassesanyway--but you did not statewhen you want thecheap loan........the garnishment will affect u

My little advice is that you go to a bank in yourarea to request for the loan, I think that wouldbe a bit easier for you, but let me also recommendyou to a loan firm that offers unsecured loans inorder to ease your situation, though he is theonly one I have tried for now so I don't reallyknow if their interest rate is the lowest. definitely it will affect your credibility. itwill have bad impact on garnishments by this way.it will be possible but u need to be careful inyour future payments.
