Reviews: Small business loan seekers beware!! For those first time small business owners looking for a bank that you can trust depend and rely on Community Bank of the Bay IS NOT IT!! I personally have my own horror story which I must share. I applied for a SBA small business loan for my start-up contracting firm which was approximately at the beginning of January 2005. I started my company in August of 2005 which was 5 months prior to my application. I started with about 150000 of my own money and we applied for an additional 100000 from the bank which was needed to strengthen us finiacially until we can become self sufficient. If I couldnt get approval for this loan. then I would have to revaluate the survivability of the company without the additional funding which would change any business decisions made at that time. Well of course I was approved for the loan and was promised funding within 2 weeks after the approval process. This was approximately the middle of Feb 2006. Well now we had the means to go full steam ahead in trying to succeed with the company. Well problems began before we even got started.. Once we were told we would be funded within two weeks well that never happened. 3 weeks went by and the bank told me that a mix up in paperwork had happened within the bank and it would be approx another two weeks before funding. This would now total 5 weeks from the original 2 weeks promised. I didnt panic because we still had a smalll amount of my original start-up money to sustain ourselves for short while. And we were thinking to ourselves it cant be that much longer. Again we couldnt have been more wrong!! Well now 5 weeks went by and the bank told me that they were now waiting for the SBA to approve the loan before the bank can fund and that it would be any day. Well this went on for 2 months and still no funding. Now Im panicking I have ran out of my start-up money and the additional funding that we been patiently waiting for still hasnt arrived. 3 months go by and I am having to scrape sell scavenge any which way I can to stay in business until I can get my funding. This time I call the bank and ask why they havent checked with the SBA or maybe push them to expedite the paperwork because we were in a little bit of trouble and needed that funding. Apparently no one stayed on top of it and waited till someone inquired about the loan like myself. 4 months now go by and between the 2nd month and the 4th month I was being told I would be funded every week since. I am not exagerating this this actually was happening and the stress and false promises were overwhelmingly fustrating. Well after the fifth month they told me that SBA finally approved their end of the loan and they were delayed because of the Katrina Hurricane the previous year. Well now they were ready to fund the loan but they forgot to tell me that I needed life insurance to cover the loan. I am now close to 6 months after I was approved for a my SBA small business loan. My company was in debt and already had creditors on my back before we really got started. You tell me how can a small business rely on a bank that promises funding in a certain period of time and end up so far off and expect that business to suceed?? In reality I had failed before I really had a fair chance to succeed and the bank didnt care one bit. I even wrote a personal letter to the President explaining this farced predicament but he paid me no mind and why should he he now owned everything that I had since I signed the loan documents. Everybody attitude changed once those loan documents were signed. I was no longer visible. As quickly as I was funded I lost everything my business my home my family. I have not one red cent to my name and am now homeless. I owe all that to Community Bank of the Bay!! Thanks for nothin!!

Reviews: I dont know if their branches are excellent or not. Yet I am sick of their VISA card policies. Never apply their credit card nor do balance transfers with their offer. They will make money out of you with their hidden balance transfer charges and special payment posting policy. I got hit by them so badly. Ended up after using their credit card for a month and in order to stop them making more money out of me I have to stop using their card. I have excellent credit and paid them off every single statement. However I learned a painful lesson from doing balance transfer business with them. Dont let their small benefit blind you! They will get you back big time. Not worth to have any accounts with them. I am boycotting them. Check out all the online complaint websites to read how bad a company WAMU is.
