Reviews: We are purchasing a home in AZ. We went to a lending company and pre-qualified for the loan before we started our search. We made an offer and it was accepted - we are currently awaiting a closing date. Two days ago I received a call from "Go Apply". They said they were calling to confirm information for our lender. I asked what lender - they indicated they did this for Wachovia and named a couple other national lending firms and added they also did it for all local lending companies. Questions had to do with the purchase of the home, location, selling price, loan amount, etc. After receiving the call, I contacted our lender and asked if this was a ligitimate call and was advised that it was not - - Any info they needed they would get from me themselves and as I knew, they had all the info requested. My lender indicated that I would probably receive numerous contacts from other lending organizations trying to get our business. He also indicated that Go Apply probably got our information from the credit companies after he ran a credit report on us. I called Go Apply back and said I was very unhappy that I had received the call and that I knew they did not make the call to 'confirm info for my lender' as indicated. I told them I did not want solicitation from any other lending companies nor any further contact from them. The person I was speaking to at the time said that "my request" through "Lower My Bill", for information would dictate contact from other lending firms and she couldn't do anything about that. (Since the story now became 'my request' also supports the fact that they lied to me when they said they were 'confirming info for my lender'.) I told her I had not requested anything from Lower My Bill - I had received an e-mail from them but as with all 'pop-up advertising' I deleted it without opening it up. It would seem to me that this type of activity would be unethical if not illegal - and certainly the fact they they are being dishonest in their contact is something that needs to be stopped.
