Reviews: This bank was the saviour for me when I was desperately looking for some bank to get my $500 worth Travelers Cheques encashed (as none of the shops/restaurants accepted to take them) and criteria being that I dont hold any account with them. They easily accepted 2 of my $500 TCs and gave me the cash (that too in the denominations that I preferred :) ) in just 10 minutes without any big procedure.

Reviews: I opened a 6 month CD with this bank and allowed it to mature. The customer service was very good once they got accustomed to a non-asian entering the building. When the CD matured I received notice that it would roll over in 5 days if I did not give other instructions. I called and spoke with a bank representative and requested that the money be moved into a money market because I would be withdrawing it. The bank said OKay you want money market. I was under the impression that life was good. When I went to the bank I learned that it had rolled over into another 6 month CD and I paid $1124.34 penalty. The reason for this is that we had a lack of communication. I do not speak Chinese and the bank personnel do not actually understand English. So while everything appeared good on the surface I can not recommend a non-chinese speaking person use this bank. We need to be crystal clear when communicating about our money and the East West bank is not. Of course for the customer there is no recourse. Attempting to speak with the people about it got a response in Chinese that to this day I still dont know what they said. They got my $1124.34 but they lost me as a customer and have earned as much bad press as I can post.
