Reviews: After putting a deposit down on our home in July 2006, 1 month before we are scheduled to close escrow, we have come across a problem. The sales price of our home, including upgrades, is 435,000. The appraisal that Centex requested we pay for came in at only 384,000. Now, Centex is insisting that we pay the 50,000 difference in cash. We do not understand how they can justify trying to sell us a home for more than the market value. Would you pay 30,000 for a car that's only worth 20,000? So, after almost a year of waiting anxiously, we are being forced to walk away. We aren't asking for anything for free, just for Centex to be fair and live up to their "10's across the board" motto. Would any of them purchase a home for MORE than it appraised for? I sincerely doubt it!
