Question: #4: How does a credit limit work, I just got my first credit card?
I just got my first credit card and it has a $2,500 limit on it. I have charged $2,225 on it. I will only be able to pay the minimum payment this bill cycle of $50. Though I should be able to pay it off in full by late September. In the mean time I need to pay some bills. Question: #5: Can my credit card company unilaterally lower my Credit limit at its discretion? How likely isthis?
I have a credit card with a credit limit of $12,500. I have not only been making the payments each month, but I have been paying off my monthly balance at the end of each month consistently. My father told me that, given the situation of today's financial market, the bank can decide to lower my limit. Is this possible? Is this likely? If so, what factors would influence their decision to lower my credit limit?

Question: #10: Is requesting an increase in a credit card limit treated the same as an application for new creditfor FICO?
I know that applying for a new card will reduce my FICO, and that increasing credit limits (while keeping debt amounts constant) will increase my score - but this would not be the case if requesting the increase in credit limit is treated as a new credit card application?

Question: #16: Should I strive for a high credit limit? How many credit cards should I have?
I just figure the more credit the better. Does a higher credit limit increase your credit score? I don't plan on ever using all of it, but I want it to be available to me. And if my credit limit is higher, doesn't it make the amount I owe seem smaller, so my credit score will increase right?
